This page is a simple example of how web access to a Service Engine system can be set up using zenon Smart Server.

The zenon Smart Client can be used by all browsers on Windows Systems.

The operating system uses Data Execution Prevention (DEP) to prevent VBA code being executed in the browser. You can find more detailed information on deactivating Data Execution Prevention in the zenon documentation in the 'Smart Server' chapter.

In order to ensure optimum operation of the zenon Smart Clients, the Smart Server must be added to the list of trusted site under Internet options -> Security.

The zenon Smart Client setup must first be downloaded and run in order to use the zenon Smart Client. Once this has been installed, a connection to the zenon Smart Server can be made.

The zenon Smart Client must be installed in order to display zenon projects in the browser.

Info: The zenon Smart Client has to be of the same version (e.g. 10) as the Service Engine server.

In order for the zenon Smart Client to be able to make a connection to the Service Engine server, some configuration parameters (version info, project name, name of the zenon Smart Server PC, name of the Service Engine server PC) must be amended in the configuration file on the web server (\config\global_vars.js). You can edit this file with a standard text editor (Notepad).
